Many make the error of thinking that all sin, past present and future is already dealt with, that it no longer matters.
Through the new birth we are given new, clean start in life, however we are not given immunity from the effects and penalty of future sin.
We are given a new clean start, and then by His Spirit we are given the means by which we are able to continue living a clean life as long as we walk according to His Spirit
And praise God He did not stop there - He made provision for additional cleansing (through confession) if we fall back into sin.
The commenter considers this to be a “diabolical appraisal of what ... constitutes salvation ”.
So:
Is it diabolical to consider that sin still matters to God?
Is it diabolical to see that God gives us a new and clean start to life through the new birth?
Is it diabolical to recognise that we are not immune to sin and its effects and that if we continue in sin there is a penalty to pay?
Is it diabolical to see that God has given His Holy Spirit to equip us to live a clean life as long as we walk in the Spirit?
Is it diabolical to see that God continues to forgive and cleanse us from sin and its effects when we confess our sin?
Again I really wonder what “gospel” some people are following.
Thank God for HIS truth and thank God for the gift of His Son and the salvation available only through Him.

I guess my question would not be "Is it diabolical?" but "Is it Biblical?" And what you posted above certainly is.
In this age of easy living and instant gratification, no one wants to hear the real Gospel. It is truly shocking to perceive what folks who profess Christianity really believe about Jesus, His word, and salvation. May God give us eyes to see and a heart for His truths.

Yes , I stand by by my comment that your appraisal of salvation is diabolical, because
1 . You fail to acknowledge that Christ died for all sins [ of the elect ] past , present , and future.
2. You fail to acknowledge that Christ has already paid the penalty of our sin.
3 . You fail to acknowledge that in His death for our sin , Christ made a complete atonement for that sin .
4 . You fail to acknowledge that in His death for our sin , Christ was the propitiation for that sin.
5 You fail to acknowledge that the sacrifice that Christ paid for our sin was for once only , there is no so called additional cleansing.
In fact , your " gospel " is an abject failure, it fails to acknowlege the finished work of Christ , and instead emphasises the continued need of man to justify his salvation.
Understand this , that justification is through Christ , by a single event. The cross.
I f I were you I would be re-evaluating what your idea of salvation is , because as it stands now , you are teaching a different gospel. Bad move on your part.

Clearly Your devotion to man's theology blinds you to anything (even scripture) that contradicts your theological conditioning.
Scripture makes it clear that present and future sin matters as much as past sin - that present and future sin needs to be confessed in order for forgiveness and cleansing to be be received.
You appear to take a far too light view of sin and take God's gracious gift equally lightly.
Christ's work IS finished - but it needs to be applied to our lives in the way HE specifies.
I suggest you turnaway from man's teachings and spend time with God and His word - let HIM reveal the truth to you.
AGAIN, I suggest you stop risking being confused with all of the other "anonymous" posters - by at least giving yourself an individual name.
